- Presentation Summary: Contract negotiation is an involved process, requiring unique skills, knowledge, and experience. In this session, we’ll dig into the complexity of contract negotiation and showcase how effective planning and preparation can lead to win-win solutions. Drawing on real-life examples from public agencies, we’ll explore proven tips and tricks to help you achieve your desired outcomes and build your confidence as a skilled negotiator in public procurement.
- Presenter Bio: Dan Marran has been in the public procurement field for more than 29 years, progressing from a small K-12 school district through two full-service cities in both California and Nevada. From 2005-2023 he worked for the City of Sparks Nevada, first as the Purchasing Manager but then as the Contracts and Risk Manager and the sole practitioner of all procurement functions.
In June of 2023 Dan was hired by Sourcewell and currently serves as a Director of Government Accounts, focused on training programs specific to public procurement.
Dan has served in volunteer roles in the public procurement profession in positions at the local, regional, state and national level over the course of his career including CAPPO, the Nevada Public Purchasing Study Commission, the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council, and NIGP.
